Quality/Accurate/Powder Free

Introducing the revolutionary new Equadose pill splitter. The Equadose is the best pill cutter because it is designed to solve many of the issues with traditional, plastic, single-blade tablet cutters. Crafted with two opposing blades that come in from the sides it takes a whole new approach to splitting pills. The patent pending blades are angled in such a way that they are not sharp to the touch, yet they will never dull. No more unequal halves, dangerous powder, or wasted medication. In addition, it works with just about every size and shape tablet. Small, large, and powdery tablets, are no problem. With the Equadose splitting pill cutter quarters is a breeze.

When not in use, the Equadose pill splitter acts as a pill box with two compartments for pill storage and organization. As a pocket pill case the swivel lid keeps medication safe, but is easy to open for use. We are currently selling it in sapphire blue. We proudly craft every one of our cutters right here in the USA out of the finest aerospace grade aluminum. No expense is spared to make the best pill cutter money can buy. In fact, we guarantee it for life!

Comprehensive Design

We designed our pill splitter to cut any shape or size pill.  It is the best pill cutter for small pills, large tablets, odd-shaped pills… you name it!

Opposing blades

The trick to splitting pills accurately is in the angled twin blades. In short, the double blades apply pressure to the same part of the tablet to give you perfect halves. In addition, the angle means they will never dull like traditional cutters. This means that you will always get perfect pill cutter quarters.

How Does it Work?

The Problem

With the traditional plastic pill splitter design there are three major problems: 1) The thin razor blades tend to deflect under pressure making inconsistent cuts. 2) Centering devices tend to constrain the pill and don’t let the two halves separate cleanly. Also, by supporting the pill on a flat surface and engaging it with just the one blade, we get vector forces that result in a wedge shaped portion of the pill being crushed into powder.

Equadose takes a whole new approach to pill cutting.

Parallel Pivot

First, Equadose uses a pivot that is parallel to the cutting action, as opposed to the traditional perpendicular arrangement. In layperson terms it is the difference between trying to cut a pill with one bladed scissors vs. a giant set of fingernail clippers. This matters because we are not trying to cut a pill so much as split it with a controlled fracture. The change in orientation allows more of the blade to be in contact with the pill. Blade engagement is key to scoring the tablet before the split occurs.

Twin Blades

Second, Equadose uses a double blade arrangement. By clamping the pill between two blades we create opposing stress risers on either side of the tablet. By focusing the splitting force between two opposing blades we are much more likely to see a clean fracture. We made this discovery splitting Smarties candy. Smarties, with their concave faces are particularly hard to split accurately. Traditional pill splitters working like one bladed scissors only score one edge of the candy before fracturing. The Equadose pill cutter, with its double blade and altered pivot arrangement, scores four edges and controls the fracture much better.

Pill Centering

As for pill centering, we worked on that problem for over a year and kept running into the same issues. When you constrain the pill/tablet end to end for alignment you don’t allow the two halves to disassociate cleanly. The efficiencies you gain with more blade engagement are lost when the tablet has nowhere to go after the fracture. Pill crushing was the result. The real trick was to have a mechanism that held the pill centered, but then moved out of the way for splitting. Such designs were complex and cost prohibitive. It turns out that a pair of fingers does the job quite nicely. Our testing assured us that accurate halves can be produced by manually centering the pill. In fact, I was amazed to discover that a human’s ability to judge center and split accurately beat the common plastic pill cutters nearly every time.

The Equadose pill splitter is superior to anything else out there.

Customer Reviews

Couldn't be easier!! By Z. S. C. on April 18, 2015

“I will give this device 5 stars all day long! It is machined and milled as in the old days before we quit manufacturing such ingenious gizmos here at home. Simply rest it on a countertop, place your pill or tablet over the indentation, bring the top cutter down in contact with the pill securing it between the two cutting edges, close the plastic cover, and then snap it with your fingers!!! A perfect cut and each half is secured in its own compartment, not flying across the room. Thanks for the effort in designing this.”

Made in USA with vintage precision and durability. By J. M. on May 29, 2015

“This is a great precision made piece of art! My wife bought this because between myself, my wife, and our two older rescue dogs there is a lot of pills that need splitting. At first I thought, ” Wait, you spent $35 on a pill splitter? “. Then I held it and inspected it and used it. Wow!!! I’m blown away, this thing is machined aluminum and is better built than some of the performance parts I buy for my Harley Davidson. We will never need to buy another splitter again, unless we get blue one, that matches my anodized parts on my race bike….jk.

I suggest you watch the YouTube video for how to use correctly. It’s actually super simple, but too many people overthink it and can’t quite get it at first.

In summary it’s perfectly made and does its job flawlessly, worth the money if you ask me. Over the years of buying splitters that have broken we’ve spent much more than $35. Plus it’s MADE IN USA by real people!”

The BEST by FAR!!! By Benzal on October 10, 2015

“SO much better than every pill splitter I’ve tried, and that’s pretty much ALL of them as you can see from the attached picture. You can easily split any size or shape pill in half, quarter, thirds, or any amount you choose. There’s almost no dust or crumbs, just a nice, neat cut. When I was looking at the pictures of this splitter I wondered if the opposing blades would grind into each other when the cutter was fully closed.. NOPE, there’s just a tiny space left between the blades and they can’t touch each other no matter how hard you press it together. This is just a wonderful piece of precise craftsmanship. I chose the orange, and it’s beautiful to look at. If Apple made a pill splitter, this would be it! It’s obvious these are hand made by a master machinist that takes pride in his work.

SO happy to have finally found a truly good splitter. I was so disappointed after I bought the “Swiss” splitter at nearly twice the price of this, and it was such low quality and worked worse than cheap plastic splitters. I had just given up, then found the Equadose!! Thank you, THANK YOU for creating this!!!”

Great product, works perfectly on hard to split pills. By R.C. on April 29, 2015

“Works great for me. I have uncoated 11mm flat round pills that were just crumbling apart with traditional over the counter splitters (I’ve tried a dozen kinds of those over the years). After looking over the options, I decided to give this one a go because it splits from the top and bottom, but in a vertical position (standing on end). My pills have score marks, so I just lined it up and squeezed. Next I purposely split the pill off the score mark, to see if it would split differently, but I got the same results. Exact halves. The score mark made no difference. No more incorrect dosages or powder to worry about.

It is a one pill at a time deal. But I’d rather have the right dosage than a multi-pill splitter. I just cut my pills each night for the next day.
I also received a lovely hand signed note with my splitter. Sometimes it’s about more than the product your buying, and that is what I found here.”

Best pill splitter I have used. By J. H. on September 5, 2015

“This is by far the best pill splitter I have used. I only need to take 1/2 tablet of a medication I get. The traditional razor blade splitter I used to use would split unevenly and crush the pill along the cut line just creating a mess of crumbles. I was concerned that some days I was getting more medication, and some days much less, than I needed.

This splitter applies cutting pressure from both sides of the pill, creating a smooth cut line and almost zero debris. The two halves I end up with are almost always predictably equal sizes. Because of the hinged design of this splitter, you need to angle your pill slightly so that both cutting edges are hitting the center of both sides of the pill. That takes some practice and every once in a while I still get halves which are not equal sizes, but it happens far less frequently than with the razor blade style splitters.

If you’re concerned about getting the right amount of medication with every dose and are tired of the single edge razor blade cutters crushing your pills rather than splitting them, then I would definitely recommend this splitter. It’s a bit more expensive than all the other splitters, but it’s also not made of cheap plastic and it’s made in the US. It should be the last splitter you need to buy.”
